Res: 173-04 Resolution Authorizing increase ofthe County of Hawaii Fuel Tax.
This measure should not he approved for the following reasons:
1. The fuel tax in Hawaii is the highest in the United States already.
2. Why should you penalize those who must drive for the benefits of unions?
3. There is enough waste within the County Government; eliminate the waste
with a good financial manager.
4. Stop rubber stamping all requests as submitted by the Mayor.
5. If there is any doubt, why not put the measure up for a vote by the people. It
will surely be voted down.
6. If we have a shortage of workers, put additional work out for bid and take the
best offer. This way we will be stuck with having too many county
employees.
7. Finally, we cannot afford the luxury of hiring more county workers, including
all the benefits associated with the workers.
