AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE
1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO SEWER CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
(BY DEI,GT[NG PROVIS[ONS THAT ALLOW EXCEPTIONS TO THE
CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR LOTS ACCESSIBLE TO A SEWER AND
ESTABLISHES A PROCESS FOR REQUESTING A VARIANCE/EXEMPTION TO
THE CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS)
This is an important issue -and the ordinance needs to be passed.
Sewer connections must be required wherever and whenever it is
accessible. There must be few exemptions -perhaps none. Since the
population is growing so rapidly over many parts of this island,
cesspools and septic tanks will not be able to keep our drinking
water uncontaminated and/or the ocean clear and clean.
1 urge you to support this bill in Committee and in Council.
