AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE
1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO SEWER CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS (BY
DELETING PROVISIONS THAT ALLOW
EXCEPTIONS TO THE CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR LOTS ACCESSIBLE TO A
SEWER AND ESTABLISHES A PROCESS FOR REQUESTING
A VARIANCE/EXEMPTION TO THE CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS)
This is an important issue -and the ordinance needs to be passed.
Sewer connections must be required wherever and whenever it is
accessible. There must be few exemptions -perhaps none. Since the
population is growing so rapidly over many parts of this island,
cesspools and septic tanks will not be able to keep our drinking
water uncontaminated andlor the ocean cleaz and clean.
I urge you to support this bill in Committee and in Council.
