This is the rezoning request of Cliftp's Kona Coast <br /> LLC to change their existing zoning of MG3a to a Project District on their 83 acre highway pazcel which <br /> is located on the South side of the Natural Energy Lab of Hawaii. We understand this i'~ on your County <br /> Council agenda for April 21, 2004. <br /> As our elected representatives, we strongly urge your approval to this zoning change fo numerous <br /> reasons that are extremely beneficial to our community, you, your families and most importantly your <br /> constituents. <br /> We feel that Kona, North Kona and South Kohala aze in desperate need of alternative choices for <br /> housing, goods and services. We all aze awaze of the current, continuing and increasin traffic problems <br /> in West Hawaii and feel that if given a viable alternative, we will gratefully embrace it d use it. The <br /> concept of providing substantial goods and services six miles North of Kona is most ap Baling and <br /> extremely logical. The equitable distribution of goods and services will greatly enhanc our lives. <br /> There aze literally thousands of people who live in this area and have no choice but to d be into Kona <br /> for their needs. No other choices at all! Just think of the thousands of cazs that will no onger drive into <br /> Kona and impact the only two roadways. The impact this project would have on the tra is issues and <br /> quality of life for us is immeasurable. Everybody wins! We also support Clifto's Kon Coast LLC's <br /> offer to provide 20% of his multi-family units to be deemed `affordable housing' which is double the <br /> requirement. This will greatly assist the many needy families with their battle in the ev r increasing cost <br /> of living in Hawaii. <br /> Again, we need your help to improve our lives and the lives of the people of Hawaii wh~m you have <br /> been elected to protect and represent. With all the residential projects totaling thousand of units that <br /> have zoning in place and aze going to be built in the very near future in West Hawaii, w need your <br /> support to approve this project so we can have a better choice for our vital goods and se~vices.
