This is the rezoning request of Cliftp's Kona Coast LLC to change their existing zoning of MG3a to a Project District on their 83 acre highway pazcel which is located on the South side of the Natural Energy Lab of Hawaii. We understand this i'~ on your County Council agenda for April 21, 2004. As our elected representatives, we strongly urge your approval to this zoning change fo numerous reasons that are extremely beneficial to our community, you, your families and most importantly your constituents. We feel that Kona, North Kona and South Kohala aze in desperate need of alternative choices for housing, goods and services. We all aze awaze of the current, continuing and increasin traffic problems in West Hawaii and feel that if given a viable alternative, we will gratefully embrace it d use it. The concept of providing substantial goods and services six miles North of Kona is most ap Baling and extremely logical. The equitable distribution of goods and services will greatly enhanc our lives. There aze literally thousands of people who live in this area and have no choice but to d be into Kona for their needs. No other choices at all! Just think of the thousands of cazs that will no onger drive into Kona and impact the only two roadways. The impact this project would have on the tra is issues and quality of life for us is immeasurable. Everybody wins! We also support Clifto's Kon Coast LLC's offer to provide 20% of his multi-family units to be deemed `affordable housing' which is double the requirement. This will greatly assist the many needy families with their battle in the ev r increasing cost of living in Hawaii. Again, we need your help to improve our lives and the lives of the people of Hawaii wh~m you have been elected to protect and represent. With all the residential projects totaling thousand of units that have zoning in place and aze going to be built in the very near future in West Hawaii, w need your support to approve this project so we can have a better choice for our vital goods and se~vices. To the Honorable Chairman James Arakaki and the County of Hawaii County Council, We are writing to you today concerning Bill # 178. This is the rezoning request of Cliftn's Kona Coast i.LC to change their existing zoning of MG3a to a Project District on their 83 acre highway parcel which is located on We South side of the Natural Energy Lah of Hawaii. We understand this is on your County Council agenda for April 21, 2004. As our elected representatives, we strongly urge your approval to this zoning change for numerous reasons that are extremely beneficial to our community, you, yoty families and most importantly your constituents. We feel that Kona, North Kona and South Kohala are in desperate need of alternative choices for housing, goods and services. We all aze aw•ue of the current, continuing and increasing fraftic problems in West Hawaii and feel that if given a viable alternative, we will gratefully embrace it and use it. The concept of providing substantial goods and services six miles North of Kona is most appealing and extremely logical. The equitable distribution of goods and services will geatly enhance our lives. There are literally thousands of people who live in this area and have no choice but to drive into Kona for their needs. No other choices at all! Just think of the thousands of cars that will no longer drive into Kona and impact the onl y two roadways. The impact this project would have on the traffic issues and quality of life for us is immeasurable. Everybody wins! We also support Clifto's Kona Coast LLC's offer to provide 20% of his multi-family units to be deemed `atlurdable housing' which is double the requirement. This will greatly assist the many needy families with their battle in the ever increasing cost of living in Hawaii. Again, we need your help to improve our lives and the lives of the people of Hawaii whom you have been elected to protect and represent. With all the residential projects totaling thousands of units that have zoning in place and are going to be built in the very near future in West Hawaii, we need your support to approve this project so we can have a better choice for our vital goods and services. Please approve this rezoning request. Please contact us with any comments or questions. Mahalo and Aloha, Addressr~An1( f~ L Tl. Phone: P l7 b O K @S y 93t:- t ~ 8~
