The State of Hawaii Department of Health has increased its annual grant funding for additional public outreach and promotion of the used oil collection program. REQUEST: To increase Used Motor Oil Collection Program grant by $6,205 to 085-601-5604,30. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): In FY 2002-03, the Used Motor Oil Collection Program successfully diverted nearly 10,000 gallons of used oil from landfill disposal and alleviates problems with illegal dumping. Anew permanent drop-off location at Pa'auilo will be open before the end of this fiscal year and another drop-off location will open soon at the new Pahoa Hardware currently under construction. Promotions will be focused on advertising the new sites, as well as the five existing permanent drop-off locations in Waimea, Kailua-Kona, Ocean View, and Hilo.
