These funds, derived from the Department of Homeland Security, Office for <br /> Domestic Preparedness (ODP), are to provide law enforcement communities with enhanced <br /> capabilities for detecting, deterring, disrupting, and preventing acts of terrorism. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii <br /> Department of Defense, State Civil Defense. <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this <br /> $456,544 Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program Grant. <br /> Due to the State Civil Defense's signing deadline of May 28, 2004, the Hawaii County Civil Defense <br /> Agency would like to request a waiver from the Finance committee and have this resolution and bill <br /> heard at the Council meeting scheduled for May 19, 2004. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Civil Defense Agency. <br /> William Ta aba <br /> Director of Finance <br /> APPROVED: <br /> <br /> C~~ V~[X,e~O" <br /> Harry Kim <br /> Mayor <br /> Enc. <br /> cc: Civil Defense Comm.
