HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0591.009 2002-2004 RESOLUTION NO. 180 04 DRAFT 3 I am against passing the above resolution. I feel the County of Hawaii Environmental Management Depaztment has not deviated from the Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan adopted by you on November 20, 2002. This extensive plan, which we in our County paid Hazding ESE to prepaze, was completed through the collaboration of the Environmental Management Commission and with input from many community members. It went through Public Hearings and then was adopted by you. I know to many of you having ahigh-tech company come in from the start with no up- front costs and no possible trucking to Kona may seem like the most prudent thing to do, if it were that way,why did you wait until now to decide to change the plan? Where were you then? Being in the solid waste and recycling industry as a private hauler and recycler, I feel our community has only benefited from this current administration's adoption of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan and the steps they have taken to fulfill it. I urge you not to pass this Resolution. It will take time to do fact finding on the high-tech companies who respond to the RFI which just came out. I for one would not like to see what would happen if we did not have a (Sort Station), Regional Transfer Station when the Hilo Landfill is closed. Let's avoid having small rubbish companies haul their customers rubbish to Puuanahulu landfill due to this Resolution. R~trvtti gYt... pate__- ~punty Counc`l -c (Submitted by llargaret Pahio) Comm.
