Dear Dominic,
I know I'm only 11 and won't make much of a difference
but I feel very strongly about not having the trees in our
community. I think it is dumb to put the trees on the best soil
in Hamakua. We can grow more productive things on our coast
like how you said at the meeting on July 23, 1997 and I'm glad
we have a representative that actually cares for his people. If I
could vote, I would vote for you.
If we put the trees on our coast it will drop the level of
tourism, (this is only my opinion) because of loss of beautiful
sights on Hamakua. If they wanted to see trees all they had to
do was stay home. I know I've been there and there are trees all
over the place but not the beautiful ocean and mountain views
that we have. What is the sense of covering the beauty of our
coast?
People from Honolulu, Maui, Kona and any other place
probably won't care if the trees go in or not because they won't
have to look at it every day of their lives, like I will.

PS I will be 66 by the time the 55 year lease is over and I'm a
good farmer. If I'm 66 when I'm able to use the land there
won't be much of me left, so please try your very hardest to
