RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A ®ONATION OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT
TO THE HA90VAI`I COUNTY POLICE ®EPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department's Hawaii Isle Police Activities League Program (HI-
PAL) was the recipient of a donation of sports equipment purchased with the proceeds from the Hawaii County
Fire Department's 2003 Emergency Medical Services (EMS) 911 5K Fun Run/Walk and Family Day; and
WHEREAS, the sports equipment have an estimated total value of $3,200; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the donation of the sports equipment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to
Firefighter Lance Uchida, EMS Week Coordinator, c/o Hawaii County Fire Department, 25 Aupuni Street,
Room 103, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
