Bill 270 assures an ongoing (and protection fund which can be used to
purchase and protect important Hawaii County lands.
[ encourage you to support the Bill, and to increase
the real proper}~ tax revenue amount to be dedicated ki land protection Crom
1 to 24%. Maui and Kauai boih dedicate 2°,%: Hawaii ought to do the same.
In addition, I would like the Bill to include the following mandate: that
at least ~04!~ of the monies collected MUST be used to protect Land located in
West Hawaii. Such a requirement will ensure fair and equitable treatment
for West Hawaii.
