Hawaii County Council
25 Aupuni St. Room #209
Hilo, HI 96720
Dear Mr. Safazik:
There is currently before the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations Committee a
Revised Sign Code. We believe is it is important that adequate sign control measures be
established and enforced as soon as possible. It is obvious from driving in almost any
azea of the county that all will soon be severely disfigured by uncontrolled signage.
It is very important that we preserve the beauty of the Island, and it is important that we
prevent the visual clutter that can come from roadside signs, billboards, and sandwich
boards. The needed speed, directional, and other road signs should not have the
competition of what is becoming an ugly and uncontrolled distractions of commercial
signs.
Please work to get approval of the Revised Sign Code.
Sincerely, l Y
Joan & George Prater
