Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for two (2) copiers for the Office of the Corporation Counsel. The leases on their two (2)
copiers currently in use will be expiring in October 2004. Obtaining a lease on a newer,
more technically advanced copier will increase staff productivity via faster digital
copying, scanning, and network printing.

A. REQUEST:
To enter into a five-year lease agreement for a copier to be located at
the Family Support Division, 688 Kinoole St., Suite 214, Hilo, HI.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The lease on the copier currently in use will be ending October 2004. The
Office of the Corporation Counsel, Family Support Division, would like to
obtain a new lease on a new, more technically advanced copier. The
technology of a newer copier will increase staff productivity via faster
digital copying, scanning and network printing. This new copier will allow
the FSD to keep up with the increased demands placed upon it to keep up
with delinquent child support payments. FSD's expenses are 100% reimbursable
by the State of Hawaii.

101 Aupuni Street, Suite 325, Hilo, HI.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The lease on the copier currently in use will expire on October 2004. The
lease of another copier is critical to the operation of the Office of the
Corporation Counsel. The Office of the Corporation Counsel would like to
obtain a new lease on a new, more technically advanced copier, that are now
currently available. Current copier technology allows faster digital
imaging, scanning, scanning to e-mail, and network printing to name a few
options that will allow the staff to increase their productivity. This
expanded capability will allow this office to keep up with the increasing,
demands that are put upon it by its County clients, the courts and the
public.
