RESOLUTION NO. 2'U^ U~
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE COST ITEMS PROVIDED FOR IN A
SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT AFFECTING SHOPO BARGAINING UNIT 12
AND EMPLOYEES EXCLUDED FROM BARGAINING UNIT 12 FOR THE PERIOD
JULY 1, 2004 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2007.
WHEREAS, Section 89-10(b) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to collective bargaining
requires that "[a]II cost items shall be subject to appropriations by the appropriate legislative bodies";
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to provisions of Section 89-6(e) Hawai'i Revised Statutes, separate
supplemental negotiations for Unit 12, SHOPO, were entered into relating to automobile allowances,
because automobile allowances are unique cost items to the County of Hawaii and the City and
County of Honolulu; and
WHEREAS, as the talks between the City and County of Honolulu and SHOPO have not
progressed, the County of Hawaii proceeded to negotiate this item and came to this agreement; and
WHEREAS, the auto allowance amount for the Hawaii County SHOPO employees has not
increased since 1993; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the supplemental agreement to the County of Hawaii is $391,464
for fiscal year 2004-2005, $445,992 for fiscal year 2005-2006, and $501,624 for fiscal year 2006-
2007.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the cost items included in the supplemental agreement with SHOPO, as shown in Exhibit "A", are
hereby approved.
