RES®LUTI®N AUTH®RIZING THE ACCEPTANCE ®F A ®ONATI®N ®F EQUIPIIPIENT TO THE
AC,~UATICS ®I~/ISI®N OF THE ®EPARTNIENT ®F PAR&CS AN® RECREATI®N
WHt=REAS, the Neighborhood Place of Kona's Pulama Project has donated equipment, consisting of
forty (40) American Red Cross Guardstart Participant Kits; one (1) American Red Cross Leaders Kit with video;
nine {9) Surflife Waikiki Surfrider Surfboards; and six (6) Water Rescue Products Lifeguard Rescue Tubes, to
the Department of Parks and Recreation's Aquatic Divisions; and
WHEREAS, the equipment have an estimated total value of $2,400 and will be used for the Junior
Lifesaving and Guardstart programs at the Konawaena Pool; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED BY 'THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation of equipment.
t~E iT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to the Neighborhood Place of Kona,
Pulama Project, Ms. Kathy Jo Kube, Project Coordinator, 75-5565 Luhia Street B-1, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
96740, acknowledging this generous donation.
