Deer Members of the Council:
Thank you for introducing Bill 270. Clearly the people of the Blg Island support
Bill 270, and at a higher set aside than 0.5-1%. Given the size of the island and
the opportunity to match Island funds with federal and private funding, a set aside
of 2% makes moro sense. 70% of the island voters hsve indicated they would
support 2%. A smaller set aside is likely to be inef?ectiw, as it has been on
tCaui.
Everyone wkh whom I have discussed this bill enthusiastically supports it and at
a 2% set aside.
Thank you for your farsighted actions to preserve what is unpua about Hawaii
Island.
