I support v dedicated Land Protection Fund that is guaranteed to
receive 2% of existing property tax revenue oath year in order to help
purchase and protect critical watershed lands, coastal and beach areas,
hunting, gathering, and recreational lands, and important flativa
Hawaiian cultural sites.
1 understand that Maui and Kauai voters ware given the chance to
establish such land funds for their counties in 2002, and
overwhelmingly approved them with 73% support. 1 urge the Hawaii
County Council to approve Bill 270 with the above terms, allowing Big
Island voters to decide in the Hovamber 2004 election if Hawaii
County should also have a dadicatad Land Protection Fund.
