I am Paul Oshiro, submitting testimony ~on behalf of Verizon Hawaii on gill 275,
"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING GHAPTER 1A (GENERAL WELFARE) OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO STREET ADDRESSING ANp
NAMING." Thls pill establishes a street addre6sln® and naming system for Hawaii
County. Verizon Hewall supports this bill.
Currently, there are many residents and some businesses in Hawaii County that
are without street addresses. This hinders the effectiveness of the County's E911
system for these residents and businesses and makes It more difficult to locate
customers for telephone serve installations and service.
This bill will establish a uniform and sysikematlc procedure for the assignment of
addresses throughout the County of Hawaii. In addition to enhancing the bcation of
individuals in cases of emergency, this bill should also expedite postal, commercial
delivery, and utility service. We also believe that the time period provided for in this bill
for new and existing structures to conform to these street addressing requirements is
fair and reasonable.
