with many others Pum resident9 to bring social servims and basic infrastructure to the
Puna District.
I wss the consultant for the Pahoa Strategic Plan which listed acquisition of this
parcel av first priority, in order to create a mold-use town otmrr.
Community planning the world over uses the town center concept to unite and
build unity among various segments of ib towns and villages.
As the population of the Puna District has inexeaaed to over 37,1100, and shows m
sign of slowing, the town of Pahoa has provided a gathering place for Puna residarts and
many, many visitors to sight-see, to eat, to shop aad to socialise.

town of Pahoa. T'hete is a need for resaooms, a space for public , information
and crags kiosks, an improved farmer's market, a police station, and patidng.
Residents of Puna have asked the State and the County of Hawaii to acquire this
parcel for at least ten yews. Mainetreet Pahoe put together a busioeea plan to show that
the amenities emisit>ned in a town center court be self-sustaining and wo~ild serve the
Public good.
It is time for the Coumy of Hawraui to act. Please fund this acquisition.
