RESOLUTION N0.209 04
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND AND
NO/100 DOLLARS ($250,000.00) FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.
• WHEREAS, the National Park Service has set aside funds for the Hawaii County Fire Department
in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($250,000.00); and
WHERERAS, the funds are to be used for the purchase of a fire engine that will be located and
operated at Fire Station 19, which is currently located at Kilauea Military Camp ("KMC") and;
WHEREAS, the acceptance of these funds will increase public safety for the residents of the County
ofHawai`i; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the Council,
on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other personal property or
real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII,
• in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the County of Hawaii Fire
Department is authorized to accept funds in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and No/100
Dollars ($250,000.00) from the United States Department of the Interior National Park Service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the intent of the County of Hawaii is to use these funds to
purchase a structural fire engine for Fire Station 19 and continue to provide fire and emergency services.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this Resolution to the
United States Department of the Interior National Park Service (c/o Paul Ducasse, Chief Ranger, Hawaii
Volcanoes National Park, P.O. Box 52, Hawaii National Park, Hawaii 96718), the Hawaii County Fire
Department and the Hawaii County Department of Finance, Accounts Division.
