to Downtown Hilo
My~name is Dale Adams, 1 am the owner of A Touch of Aloha Florist,
in Downtown Hilo. 1 am writing in support of the relocation of the
Hawaii Community College to Downtown Hilo.
We all remember, as children, taking dominos and standing them
end-to-end in a line. Next we would tip the first one and set off a
chain reaction, resulting in the entire line of tiles toppling.
Downtown Hilo is similar, with building after building physically
declining, tenant after tenant taking leave of the area, and crime
continuing to escalate.
Yet, as the dominos begin to fall one direction, they can also be
prompted to reverse themselves. Today, we have before us a unique
opportunity to forcefully drive those dominos in a new, revitalizing
direction. We can be the ones to make this transition happen, and
we will see the fruits of our labors, when building after building
stands proudly, when new businesses join those who have had the
resolve to stay in Downtown, and when our youth are busy bustling
from class to class they will turn away from crime.
The choice is ours. Together, let's support the effort to relocate the
Hawaii Community College to Downtown Hilo. Thank you.
