Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
Subject: Kona Coastview/Kona Wonderview Water Improvement
The United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, is pleased to assist the County of
Hawaii by providing fmancial assistance to improve the water system in the Kona Coastview and Kona
Wonderview subdivisions.
Working cooperatively with the Department of Water Supply and the County's Planning Department, the
USDA has obligated $1,823,600 in grants and $3,696,400 in loans to support improvements that will
provide safe drinking water for the residents of the Kona Coastview and Kona Wonderview subdivisions.
We look forwazd to finalizing the necessary documents for USDA, and the start of construction later this
year.
We offer our congratulations to the community members and the many government agencies who have
worked so hazd in bringing this project to fruition.
