RE: Landfill Closure/Material Recovery Facility
Attached is a bill amending the Capital Budget by adding
an appropriation for the landfill closure and material
recovery facility. An earlier appropriation lapsed on
June 30, 1996.
Establishing this appropriation will enable the County to
address solid waste issues when a judgment or resolution
is determined on the West Hawaii landfill decision. In
funding this appropriation, we propose to utilize the
remaining Capital Project Fund fund balance as part of the
total funding package.
As such, pursuant to Section 10-8 of the Hawaii County
Charter, we certify that $981,760 is available for
appropriation in the Capital Project Fund fund balance.
