Re: Fire Department Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of fifteen (15) First Responder Medical
Kits and three (3) Mega Medic Kits for the Hawaii County Fire Department. The Ocean
View Community Association, Inc., P.O. Box 6016, Ocean View, Hawaii 96737 is
donating these kits to the Ocean View Volunteer Fire Department and they have an
estimated total value of $3,000.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution authorizing the acceptance of 15 First Responder Medical kits and 3 Mega Medic kits,
estimated value of $3,000, from the Ocean View Community Association, Inc.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Ocean View Community Association, Inc (OVCA) applied for and received a grant from the Hilo Shippers
Wharf Trust that fund public health and safety projects. Through this grant, OVCA received 3 Mega Medic
kits for the Ocean View Volunteer Fire Department (OVFD), to be placed on the two fire trucks and fire
station; and 15 First Responder kits for the volunteer firefighters to be used when they drive themselves to
accident sites. (Two burn kits and first aid kits were also received and assigned to the Community Center.)
The volunteer firefighters paid for the freight charges, totalling $136.74, to ship these items to Hawaii.
