RE: Proposed property tax increase on agricultural lands
Dear Council members:
I strongly oppose any increase to agricultural property tax rates, this community
needs to keep ag. Lands affordable so people can keep their livelihoods and
families subsistence. That was the idea behind the closing of the sugar
companies and opening of ag lands, for people to support themselves and not to
have to rely on welfare. There is no justification in my mind to raise the property
taxes on farmed lands.
If you want more revenue, you should be passing the long overdue GENERAL
PLAN. Then perhaps you could increase this county's revenue. Why attack the
farmers?
