HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 223 Draft 01 2002-2004 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 223 ~4 RESOLUTION CREATING A VICTIMS SERVICES TECHNICIAN (TEMPORARY) POSITION FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division has provided a Victims Services Coordinator Project grant to the Hawaii County Police Department; and WHEREAS, these funds will be used to hire a Victims Services Coordinator to provide services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assaults from the time a report is made until the case is referred to the Prosecutor's Office; and WHEREAS, the increase in cases in domestic violence and sexual assault cases necessitate the creation of a Victims Services Coordinator (Temporary) position to provide the additional administrative, technical, and clerical support needed by the Police's Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault unit and to ensure the protection and well-being of the victims; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that a Victims Services Technician, SR-13 position be created in the Hawaii County Police Department. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available from the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General's Victims Services Coordinator grant. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Finance, Civil Service, and Police. Dated at ,Hawaii, this day of , 2004.
