Re: Waste Water Treatment in Honokaa
Dear Ms. Franklin:
With my wife, I own property located at 45-3590 Mamane Street, in Honokaa,
Hawaii. The property includes a commercial building as well as a residence.
I am concerned that property owners in downtown Honokaa will be unfairly and
adversely impacted by the requirement that alternative waste water treatment systems be
installed. At best, installation of such systems by individual property owners would be
expensive. In some cases, this may not even be possible.
I strongly prefer an azea-wide solution to this shazed problem, such as creating a
town sewer system. This would be faz more efficient and cost effective than requiring
each property owner to fend for himself or herself. It would also save government
resources that might otherwise be required to monitor and enforce individual compliance.
I would urge the Hawaii County Council to support our efforts to address this problem o
a community basis. Comm. No.
