Re: Honokaa Community Sanitation Projeot
Dear Council Member:
I am interested in the efforts of the Honokaa Community Sanitation Project to find a
solution to the wastewater disposal problem in Honokaa. I ask that the County Council
provide any means of support necessary for a comprehensive solution to be provided to
the business community, the churches, community facNities and the community at large
that will be affected by the EPA ban on Large-Capacity Cesspools in Hawaii and
particularly in Honokaa.
As a commercial property owner on Mamane Street, we would find it difficult- if not
impossible- to find space to install a septic system in the space available. With so little
time remaining before the EPA deadline, we would welcome the opportunity to take
advantage of the completed Honokaa Facilfties Plan of 1990 and connect to the
existing sewer system.
We appreciate the adoption of House Resolution 84, HD1, during the last legislative
session requesting collaboration of all affected agencies to develop a joint
implementation plan.
