Suite 601 HONOLULU, HAWAE 88813 18081 6861160 June 23, 2004 _ The Honorable Jay Kimura Office of the Prosecuting Attorney Prosecuting Attorney County of Hawaii 34 Rainbow Drive Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Dear~~K~itua, The ((Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was selected to receive two grant awards from Hawaii's FY 2002 Edwazd Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Formula Program for the following projects: Project Title: Sex Offender Publication and Trackin¢ Program Amount: $147,179 Federal $ 49.060 25%match $196,239 Total Project Title: Weed and Seed Coordinator Amount: $ 52,222 Federal $ 17.407 25%match $ 69,629 Total Specialist: Julie Okamoto (telephone (808) 587-7442) your agency is responsible for providing the 25% match. If the project is unable to provide all of the required match funds, please have the project director call the assigned specialist. - An Applicant's Manual is being sent duectly to Nancy Kelly for the Sex Offrnder Publication program, and to Mitchell Roth for the Weed & Seed Coordinator. The Hawaii Office of the Prosecuting Attorney will need to submit an original and two copies of the application for grant to the Department of the - AttomeyGeneral, CYime Prevention & Justice Assistance Division. Instructions on completing the application are provided in the manual. We request that the project's start date be July 1, 2004, or no later than August 1, 2004 as the FY 2002 Byrne funds are only available until September 30, 2005, If you have any questions, please call the designated Planning Specialist.
