Re: Bill 178 is an ordinance amending Section 25-8-3 (North Kona Zone Map) Article 8,
Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of Hawaii County Code by Changing General Industrial
(MG-3a) to Project District at Ooma
Chairman Arakaki and Members of the Council,
I am John Monis of the Hawaii Operating Engineers Industry Stabilization Fund (HOEISF).
HOEISF is anon-profit organization representing both labor and management of the Operating
Engineers Local Union No.3, which includes over 300 contractors and approximately 1,800
heavy equipment operators throughout the State.
We support Bill 178 because of the many opportunities that will provide our members with
employment in construction. We need to work closely with developer, Cliftos Kona Coast in
addressing any major sensitive issues concerning the community.
One of the major issues concerning project like this will be traffic.
We are very positive that the developer has already address this issue and concern as outline in
their project plans.
