A friend talked about a friend of hers who lives on Kukuau street near Komohana.
The friend is elderly and in poor health and does not drive.
She would like to use the Hele On but can't ,since Ponahawai, where the bus
goes,is too far to walk for her. She and many others have to call taxies and would
like the bus to be re-routed to Kukuau from Ponahawai where nobody needs to
ride. Between these two streets is forest that is hard to cross, having no road or
paths. After the forest is the large cemetary whjch doesnt need the bus either since
the bus doesn't operate onMemorial day, If a large group needed to go there ,the
Mass Transit could easily arrange transportation. Most other places on Ponahawai
above Kapiiolani use trucks..
The bus driver has talked at The Mass Transit about the need to run the bus where
people live who are potential passengers, only to be told not to hold his breath
since a change could take quite som time,the matter having be dealt with by ump -
teen government agencies like the City Council...
Perhaps the time has come to change decision making relating to to needs that
can be handled without any mediation or investigating commitees or conflicts. If
needs were met while the needing were still around, the government would have
a closer and more efficient contact with their constituents.
