I s pport ok+erriding of the Mayor's veto of the Council's decision to rezone

dg clopmcnt have long been in the gun sights of a handful of loud and vet'y vocal
fill Nme a~tivists and their comrade lawyer. Aided by the editor of West IIawaii
To~1ay, who, because he is sympathetic to their goals, publishes every letter any of
th~m write, they have alarmed many of the residents of Kona. They have declared
thlit, if this project is built "thousands of can will jam Quccn K Highway."
This scenario is preposterous. These cars are not going to suddenly materialize
ouk of thin air. They are already here and are driven into the heart of Kailus daily,
cl egging up Queen K Hwy, K.uakini Hwy, and Alii Drive.
Cl fto's proposed complex is actually at the northern fringe of the corridor of
co estion. Once it is completed, much of the traffic from North and South
K hale and the north districts of mauka North Kona, which now heads into Kailua j
t4 hop, will peel off into the new shopping center rather than continuing into
' K ~lua village. The result will be that the proposed complex will alleviate the
t ~c congestion in the south, rather than exacerbate it as the alarmists claim.
Ql 17' Morris is well known to the populace of Waikoloa as agood-hearted and
Il-intenijiioned citizen. Councilman Elarionoff is doing the right thing in
s porting! this win-win project of his constituent.
