RE: Bill 78, Draft 3
Salary Ordinance
After discussions at and subsequent to the previous Council meeting, I would like to propose
floor amendments to Bill 78, Draft 3 relating to the Salary Ordinance, to help clarify that (1)
current executives may receive a raise through step adjustments based upon their years of service
in that position; (2) future executives may enter at any step based upon the person's skills and
responsibilities; and (3) annual adjustments of no more than one step a year can be made
hereafter.
The following language is proposed for clarification (Ramseyered material is showing changes
from Draft 3):
"The Mayor, for positions in the executive branch, and the council chair, for positions in
the legislative branch, [are authorized to initially adjust the compensation beginning at
Step A at the rate of one step] after the effective date of this ordinance may move anv
emolovee covered herein to an +Lst~p within the annropriate salary rang provided that the
ten movement is no more than one for every dear of service that person has earned in
the respective position. For an empTQvee covered by~his p~}+ nlan annointed after. tl~e
effective date of this ordinance the mavor [The Mayor] and the council chair are [also]
