These funds, derived from an Environmental Protection Agency federal grant, will be used to contract a vendor to coordinate and host the temporary redemption center(s) and to pay redemption fees to residential patrons for the purpose of promoting public awareness of the Beverage Container Deposit Law. Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Health for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $3,000 grant. The project will create a temporary redemption center for residential use. DOH is providing $3,000.00, through an Environmental Protection Agency grant (Grant ID #X1-97940201-2), for the project. The project shall be completed and a final report of activities submitted to DOH by December 2004.
