COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />237 04 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI`I DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, <br />PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE BIG ISLAND JUVENILE INTAKE AND <br />ASSESSMENT CENTER PROJECT GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i Department of Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health <br />Division has awarded a project grant to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the establishment of <br />the Big Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (BIJIAC); and <br />WHEREAS, the BIJIAC is a multi-agency effort that seeks to provide a single point of entry for <br />intake, assessment and case management of delinquent and at-risk youth; and <br />WHEREAS, this would also include the co-location of relevant agencies such as law <br />enforcement, probation, health and other social service providers; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant funds will be passed on to a qualifying agency to hire the project <br />coordinator and assume management responsibilities of the project; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain <br />the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br />action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br />funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, <br />in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i is <br />authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, the memorandum of agreement, attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A", for the establishment of the Big Island Juvenile Intake <br />and Assessment Center. <br />
