COUNTY OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. STATE OF HAWAI`I 237 04 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI`I DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE BIG ISLAND JUVENILE INTAKE AND ASSESSMENT CENTER PROJECT GRANT WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i Department of Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division has awarded a project grant to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the establishment of the Big Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (BIJIAC); and WHEREAS, the BIJIAC is a multi-agency effort that seeks to provide a single point of entry for intake, assessment and case management of delinquent and at-risk youth; and WHEREAS, this would also include the co-location of relevant agencies such as law enforcement, probation, health and other social service providers; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be passed on to a qualifying agency to hire the project coordinator and assume management responsibilities of the project; and WHEREAS, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, the memorandum of agreement, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A", for the establishment of the Big Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center.
