RESOLUTION NO. 23~ U4
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE RESEARCH CORPORATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF
HAWAII (RCUH), PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE HIRING OF THE BIG
ISLAND JUVENILE INTAKE AND ASSESSMENT CENTER PROJECT
COORDINATOR
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health
Division has awarded a grant to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the establishment of the Big
Island Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (BIJIAC); and
WHEREAS, the BIJIAC is amulti-agency effort that seeks to provide a single point of entry for
intake, assessment and case management of delinquent and at-risk youth; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney will be pass on the project funds to the
Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) for the hiring of a Project Coordinator to
manage the creation of the BIJIAC; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into a Contract Agreement with the Research
Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH).

above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT {FUI~T9~E1't IRIES®LVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, and the
Finance Department.
