RESOLUTION NO. 240 04
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT AWARD OF
$10,000 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SOLID
WASTE DIVISION'S COMPUTER RECYCLING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division has been
selected as a recipient of a $10,000 Dell Recycling Grant award; and
WHEREAS, the Dell Recycling Grant Program is intended to raise awareness of responsible
end-of-life options for computers and empower communities with a model and means for successful
collection events; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii will be expected to use the award to organize, promote,
stage and recycle computer equipment in an effective and free "No Computer Should Go to Waste"
collection event; and
WHEREAS, a computer recycling event is being planned and will be held in West Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Environmental Management recommends the acceptance of
this grant award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII,
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this grant award.

the Departments of Finance and the Department of Environmental Management.
