Following is a description of the proposed amendments: 1. Authority of Transit Administrator to establish promotional bus fares. The purpose is to allow the transit administrator to establish bus fares for a temporary period, not to exceed 90 (ninety) calendar days. This would allow the agency to provide lower bus fares when a new route or service is provided, or to boost ridership on routes that are not performing well. 2. Creation of a "transportation free zone". The proposal is to designate the Kona district between Kalaoa and Kealia as a transportation free zone, where riders boarding and alighting within the two areas would ride free of charge. The transportation free zone would not apply to County provided shared-ride taxi service, County operated curb to curb van service, or non-scheduled bus service. This amendment would terminate two years after enactment. ~BteP 31g7 Comm. NO.- r s-~'"7I~ Ref. To f ' -1EC - Ref. Date SER 2 9(1('4 If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call me.
