Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation Public Affairs - Safe Community Program, has
authorized a $52,000 Community Based Traffic Coordinator Grant to the Hawai'i County Police
Department. These grants funds will be used to reduce the number of alcohol, speed, and seatbelt
non-use related traffic fatalities and injuries by providing a community based coordinator to plan
and coordinate activities and to be a liaison between state, county and community agencies and
organizations.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai'i
Department of Transportation for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$52,000 Community Based Traffic Coordinator Grant.
