Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation, Public Affairs - Safe Community Program, has
authorized a $138,700 Roadblock Program Grant to the Hawai'i County Police Department. These
grants funds will be used to reduce the number of alcohol related traffic fatalities and injuries, to
increase public awareness, and to provide a constant deterrence against impaired driving by
conducting impaired driving roadblocks.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai'i
Department of Transportation for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$138,700 Hawai'i County Police Department (HCPD) Roadblock Program Grant.
