CHUNG COUNCIL MEMBER COUNTY OF HAWAII 25 AUPUNI $T HILO HI 96720 Dear Councilmember Chung: County Clerk Donald Ikeda sent me a copy of your Resolution No. 79-97, in support of making the Republic of Korea eligible for the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. I wholeheartedly support this resolution and thank you for sending it to my attention. You will be glad to know that the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Claims held a hearing on the subject two weeks ago and the Chair stated that his concerns had been addressed. While the final decision of the committee is still ahead, I will do all I can to foster adoption of some version of a Korean visa waiver, which will clearly benefit Hawaii's tourism industry. Very truly yours, PATSY T. MINK Member of Congress )lie loo. eRIrvTEO oN RECVaEO FADER x9f' Ref. pate dUL 0 8 1997
