Re: Operating Budget
The Hawai'i Community Foundation has awarded a grant to the Hawai'i County Police Department,
in connection with the Hawai'i Island Meth Initiative grantmaking project, a partnership between the
two parties. These funds, derived from the U.S. Department of Justice, Community Oriented
Policing federal grant program, will be used to purchase needed equipment for the Department's
Crime Laboratory and to train the Criminalists to assist the department in its current "war" against
the ice epidemic.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Hawaii
Community Foundation for the Hawai'i Island Meth Initiative - COPS Grant for the Hawai'i County
Police Department.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
Hawai'i Island Meth Initiative - COPS Grant funds awarded to the Hawai'i County Police
Department.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Police Department.
