Re: HIGHWAY FUND FUND BALANCE
Pursuant to Section 10-8 of the Hawai'i County Code relating to supplemental appropriations, I
am taking this means to certify there is a balance of $2,844,082.15 in the Highway Fund fund
balance as of June 30, 2004. Currently, while we are reviewing requests for supplemental
funding from the fund balance, there is an immediate need that we provide funding for
equipment necessary for the new and additional Highway Maintenance positions being funded
in Bill 310 and Resolution 225-04.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by increasing the Highway
Fund's Fund Balance From Previous Year account by $298,200 and appropriating it to the
Highway Maintenance Administration Equipment account.
Upon completion of our departmental reviews, we will be coming back to you with a proposal to
appropriate the balance of the Highway Fund fund balance.

A. REQUEST:
Amend Ordinance No. 04-74, Operating Budget, Highway Fund by appropriating $298,200.00
for seven (7) 6-passenger dump trucks with radio accessories. These are the corresponding
equipment necessary for the new additional positions being requested (ref. to Res. 225-04 and
Bill 310) and will be funded from the available fund balance.
