Re: Resolution to Amend Salary Ordinance No. 04-60
Enclosed is a resolution amending Salary Ordinance No. 04-60 to add exempt classes of work
for persons employed by the Office of the County Council and Office of Housing and Community
Development whose pay is not otherwise provided for. The amendments are to:
1. Add the classes of work for the positions in the Office of the County Council that the
Corporation Counsel has opined to be exempt from civil service status.
2. Add the classes of work for the positions in the Office of Housing and Community
Development that are exempt pursuant to Section 76-77 (14) of the Hawai'i Revised
Statutes.
Due to the urgency of this matter, Department of Civil Service would like to request a waiver
from the Finance Committee and have this resolution heard at the Council meeting scheduled
for October 20, 2004.

RE: Resolution No. 255-04 ; transmitting a resolution Amend Salary
Ordinance No. 04-60.
Pursuant to Section I (g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
