HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0400.144 2002-2004 County Council members, Fellow Citizens of Hawaii County I am here today, missing work, loosing income like the rest of these concerned people. Today, I will not make a lengthy thought felt speech. Today I will ask some pointed questions of our council members. We appreciate the hearing on this side today, but still wonder why it is at a time when it limits attendance and aids those council members in saying we don't care enough to be here. Some just cannot take off work. Some cannot go without pay. Members. This meeting is referred to as a hearing, which would indicate a fair and equitable proceeding. A time for us to speak out and for you to listen and put into action what we want. If is the case that you are here to represent us, the people of the district of Kona as well as the rest of the island, why do you ignore our pleas over and over again to disapprove the Cliftos development? Why do we speak to you over and over again and what we say falls on deaf ears? What would it take for you to understand that the people DO NOT WANT THIS PROJECT? IS it yet clear to you that we OPPOSE THIS PROJECT? The mayor hears us as well as some of your council members. Does the developer speak louder to those of you that continue to push this down our throats, or is it his checkbook that speaks to you. CAN YOU HEAR US WHEN WE SAY: SAVE OUR SIDE . I Comm. No. Ref. To:Pr Ref. Uate CF t_. L.LWL= SAVE OUR BEACHES AND SAVE OUR KONA FROM MORE UNPLANNED UNNECCESARY DEVELOPMENT All of the other side effects that this will cause are at issue as well. Therefore, we don't need or want this type of development. Its not appropriate and it benefits no one but CLIFTO and maybe some of the council members. You fight the thought of two counties, but if you continue to ignore us, as we grow and become more discontent our power will grow. No matter how long it takes we will make you, the council, RESPONSIBLE. YOU ARE ACCOUNTABLE. YOU ARE HERE TO REPRESENT OUR VOICES. You fail to make the developers provide infrastructure or pay impact fees for all of the impacts that we suffer with. They buy out of their obligations to provide low-income housing. They don't pay for roads. You will make our face traffic when you wont make the infrastructure improvements before you allow development. If this passes it will impact your districts as well, and you Mr Safarik, many of your voters will be driving through the unimproved existing roads during all of the construction of this unplanned and unwanted development. KEEP IN MIND THE ELECTION IS SATURDAY! We will vote and we will do so with the intention of electing representatives that represent US! NOT THE BIG MONEY. This is not about payoffs or more money for Hilo's infrastructure. IT IS ABOUT KONA! Stop making our town an undesirable hodgepodge mess because you don't live in it! We have had it. TAKE ACTION OR WE WILL! YOU CANNOT IGNORE US DOWN FOREVER! WE WILL FORCE CHANGES FOR BETTER REPERSENTATION NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES! SUPPORT THE VETO ON CLIFTOS OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!
