In the past, construction of <br /> replacement towers was delayed due to lack of funding. Four towers (Ahalanui <br /> Carlsmith, Leleiwi, & Onekahakaha) have been removed due to deterioration <br /> beyond repair, and two more (Richardson's & Magic Sands) need to removed or <br /> replaced in the near future. A new tower is also needed at the North end of <br /> Kahalu'u Beach Park, as the size of the surf and snorkeling area is too large to <br /> be covered by one Lifeguard tower. The Lifeguards need to be situated in a <br /> tower for visual height to maximize their view plane to provide optimal public <br /> safety. <br /> <br /> We also need an additional $500,000 for major repairs to facilities as follows: <br /> <br /> $150,000 La'aloa Beach Park: consultant, survey, park improvements <br /> $125,000 Paauilo Gym: re-roof, repaint, install new gutters and <br /> downspouts <br /> $200,000 Laupahoehoe Gym: re-roof, repaint, repair exterior walls <br /> $ 25,000 Lincoln Park Tennis Courts: reconstruct foundation as <br /> cracks are beyond resurfacing <br /> <br /> $500,000 TOTAL <br /> <br /> Please call me if you have any further questions.
