Secretary The Laupahoehoe Train Museum is hereby giving written support for Bill 348,
an amended bond ordinance to provide funding for the Laupahoehoe Emer-
DOUG CONNORS gency Access Road.
Treasurer
Until 1973 this road had served as an alternative access to Laupahoehoe Point.
DIRECTORS Its history includes almost 50 years as the main roadway, Mamalahoa High-
way, around the island at a time when trains ran where the Belt Highway is
Ian Birnie today. In 1973 earthquakes created landslides that would close the road for the
next 30 years.

The community agrees strongly that this stretch of the old Mamalahoa High-
Peter Mills PhD. way could provide access that would be critical in the event of an emergency

hoehoe Point.
