A RESOLUTION AMENDING SALARY ORDINANCE NO. 04-60 TO ADD EXEMPT
CLASSES OF WORK FOR PERSONS EMPLOYED BY THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY
COUNCIL AND OFFICE OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WHOSE PAY
IS NOT OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR
WHEREAS, Section 3-13, Hawaii County Charter, provides for interim amendments to the
Salary Ordinance to be made by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel has opined that positions in the Legislative
Branch that perform duties directly related to the legislative function of the County Council are exempt;
and
WHEREAS, Section 76-77 (9) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes provides for the exemption of
temporary election clerks in the office of the county clerk employed during election periods, and
WHEREAS, Section 76-77 (14) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes provides for the exemption of
positions in the Office of Housing and Community Development; and
WHEREAS, Section 7 of Salary Ordinance No. 04-60 lists the classes of work and
compensation for persons employed by the County other than those whose pay is otherwise provided
for; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Section 7.01 and Section 7.02(b) of Salary Ordinance No. 04-60 be amended by adding
the following classes of work:
