Dear Council Member:
We ur a your support of Comm. 804 (Bill 350) which includes funds to update the
previo is study (1990) and do a preliminary engineering study for a sewer system in
downtown Honokaa. A comprehensive solution is urgently needed by the business
comm nity, the churches, community facilities and the community at large that will be
affect d by the, EPA ban on Large-Capacity Cesspools in Hawaii County and
partic larly in Honoka'a. i f
As a commercial property owner on Mamane Street, we would find it difficult - if not 1
impossible- to install a septic system in the space available. With so little time j
remaining before the EPA deadline, we would welcome the opportunity to take
advan age of the completed Honokaa Facilities Plan of 1990 and connect to the existing
sewelr system.
We a preciate,Dr. Fred Holschuh's continuing support and the adoption of House
Res l tion 84, HD1, during the last legislative session, requesting collaboration of all
affec d agencies to develop a joint implementation plan.
