Dear Council Members,
We urge you to support Comm. 804 ( bill 350) which includes funds to update
the 1990 study for facilities in Honokaa and do a preliminary engineering
study of a sewer system in downtown Honokaa.
A comprehensive solution must be provided to the business community,
churches, community facilities and community at large that will be impacted
by the EPA ban on Large-Capacity Cesspools in Hawaii County and particularly
in Honokaa.
Commercial property owners will have great difficulty or impossibility in
providing septic systems in the space available. Due to the time
constraints, please take advantage of the opportunity to connect to the
existing sewer system as provided in the completed Honokaa Facilities Plan
of 1990.
We appreciate the adoption of House Resolution 84, HD1, during the last
legislative session requesting collaboration of all affected agencies to
develop a joint implementation plan. We appreciate Dr. Fred Holschuh's and
Mayor Kim's support.
